WHO WE ARE
An honest Leeds home-solar arm, backed by a real registered company
Solar Panels Leeds is the Leeds and West Yorkshire home-solar arm of SEO Dons Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Companies House number 16766013, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ). We are open about what that means: we are not a door-knocking sales operation and we do not pretend to run a fleet of vans from a Leeds trading estate. What we do is connect Leeds homeowners with MCS-certified installers, and give straight, current advice and honest figures so you can decide for yourself.
You can verify who we are on the public Companies House register. There is no phone number on this site by design — the homeowners we help would rather fill in a form at 10pm than take a sales call, so you enquire when you are ready and we reply within 24 hours, never with a cold call.
The Leeds solar market is full of stale figures and pressure tactics. We built this site to be the opposite: current dated facts (0% VAT on home solar until 31 March 2027, then 5%; a Smart Export Guarantee of around 12p as at 2026), advice segmented by Leeds roof type, and a plain on-screen estimate before anyone contacts you. If solar is not right for your roof, we will tell you — that is the whole point of our guide on whether solar is worth it, and of the honest ranges on our solar panel cost in Leeds page.
The numbers we stand behind are the ones you can check
Solar panels across Leeds and West Yorkshire
We cover the whole of Leeds — from the back-to-back and through-terraces of Headingley, Hyde Park and Chapel Allerton to the inter-war semis of Moortown, Roundhay, Alwoodley and Garforth, and the Yorkshire-stone housing around Pudsey, Farsley and Horsforth. Beyond the city we work across West and North Yorkshire.
Every quote is built on your actual roof and postcode, not a national average — because a Leeds roof generates around 850–900 kWh per kWp a year, and your orientation, pitch and shading decide the rest. That local knowledge is the reason a Leeds specialist beats a national lead-gen quote.
- Leeds and the LS postcode area (LS1–LS28)
- West Yorkshire: Wakefield, Bradford, Huddersfield and Morley
- North Yorkshire fringe: Harrogate, Ilkley, Wetherby and York
- Advice by roof type — terrace, semi, detached, new-build or stone
OUR STANDARDS
The standards behind solar panels in Leeds
These accreditations belong to the installers we introduce you to, and we hold them to every one. They are buyer protection, not badges on a wall — each has a real job to do for you.
MCS-certified
Required before you can receive Smart Export Guarantee payments or most grants — no MCS, no export income. Verify any installer on mcscertified.com.
RECC-registered
The renewable-energy consumer code: deposit protection and independent dispute resolution if anything goes wrong.
TrustMark
The government-endorsed quality scheme — a standard we describe accurately, never as "government-approved".
NICEIC-registered
The electrical side of the work is independently certified for safety, to the IET Wiring Regulations.
Insurance-backed warranty
An HIES-style insurance-backed warranty steps in specifically if the installer ceases trading. It is not a "fix anything forever" policy — anyone who claims that should worry you.
Free, no-obligation survey
A fully itemised written quote you can take away, with honest payback ranges. No deposit taken to get one, and no obligation to proceed.
Some of these routes also unlock funding — see what a Leeds household can actually qualify for on our grants and funding page.
WHO ACTUALLY VISITS YOUR HOME
Your local surveyor, not a salesperson on commission
When you are ready, your local surveyor — an MCS-certified surveyor, not a commission-paid closer — visits your home. They check your roof pitch and orientation, look for chimney or tree shading, inspect the slate or tile and batten condition, and assess your consumer unit and existing supply. They confirm whether your install falls under Northern Powergrid's G98 "fit and inform" route or needs a G99 application first, and they flag any Leeds conservation-area or listed-building considerations.
Only then do you get your exact figures — cost, generation, saving and an honest payback range — in a written, itemised quote. Your surveyor is there to design the right system for your roof, not to sell you the biggest battery in the van. If the honest answer is a smaller array, or no solar at all, that is what you will hear. You can read more about how we pick installers on our solar panel installers in Leeds page.
OUR HONESTY PLEDGE
What we will not do
- We do not publish invented review counts, star ratings or install numbers. If a figure appears on this site it is either sourced or clearly labelled as illustrative — you will not find a made-up "4.9 from 500 reviews" or a fictional install tally anywhere on these pages.
- We do not cold-call or sell your details into a national lead pool. Your enquiry comes to us, and we reply by email if you prefer.
- We do not quote a single "bill to zero" figure. Savings are honest ranges, confirmed at survey, because your real number depends on your roof, usage and tariff.
- We do not repeat the inflated "+£32,000 / 14% on your home value" claim you see elsewhere. The honest, evidenced effect is a modest EPC-band premium, not a blanket uplift from the panels alone.
- We will tell you when solar is NOT worth it — a genuinely north-only roof, heavy shading, or if you are about to move within a year or two. See is solar worth it for the full, honest picture, or the questions we hear most on our FAQs.
A CLEAR, HONEST PROCESS
What happens next
No hard sell, no obligation, and you can stop at any point. Here is exactly how it works when you get in touch.
Three simple steps
- Get an estimate on screen now, or send your details through the quote form.
- We reply within 24 hours — by email if you prefer, never a cold call.
- Your local surveyor books a free, no-obligation survey and confirms your exact cost, saving and payback in an itemised written quote.
